If you've ever wanted to see the real-life, tangible impact of your donations to Minus18, or the way our work supports and improves the lives of LGBTQIA+ young people in Australia, you need only look to our flagship event, the Minus18 Queer Formal®.

Queer Formal® truly is the direct and tangible impact of your donations, and provides real-life stories of how our work is changing lives.

The event though, is a space that's very deliberately only for LGBTQIA+ young people aged 12 to 19, so it can be difficult to convey the full extent of the event's heartwarming impact. Until now.

We've created the above video to give you a glimpse into the real impact of Minus18's Queer Formal.

Despite how far we've come, two in three LGBTQIA+ young people still experience abuse just for being who they are. As a result, many won't feel safe or supported to attend their school formal – an event which should be a joyous rite of passage for young people.

That's why the Minus18 Queer Formal was born: to create a safe, supportive, pride-filled space for LGBTQIA+ youth to celebrate their identity, make friends, and connect with their community.

And thanks to your donations, almost 10,000 young people have attended Queer Formals around Australia.

In the words of one attendee, Queer Formal truly is the peak of queer joy – and we couldn't have done it without you, your donations, and your support.

Check out and share the impact of Queer Formal on Youtube, Facebook, Instagram and beyond.

And if you'd like to support our work and future Queer Formals, we can't thank you enough. To everyone who's supported us over the years, whether it was when Minus18 was founded or in the past six months, thank you. This impact is YOUR impact.

Minus18 is located on the land of the Yalakut Weelam Clan of the Boon Wurrung peoples, Australia’s First People and Traditional Custodians. We acknowledge their continued connection and contribution to land, water and community, and pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging. Sovereignty was never ceded; this always was, always will be, Aboriginal land.
