Pride Month 2024 Donations Fund Free LGBTQIA+ Education In Schools

During International Pride Month this June, Minus18 is dedicating every single tax-deductible donation to creating free LGBTQIA+ inclusion workshops for schools. These education sessions will equip both students and teachers with the skills and knowledge to stand out against LGBTQIA+ discrimination.
That means every single dollar you donate, whether for Pride Month or the end of the financial year, will create free LGBTQIA+ education workshops for schools across Australia.
Our Goal: To deliver 70 free workshops, impacting upwards of 5,000 young people, teachers, and peers.
Every donation helps us reach our goal, and every $20 donation enables one more student to access these workshops.
And with your support, we’ll prioritise delivering these workshops to those that need them most – regional and rural schools, and schools that don’t have the budget to purchase inclusion workshops.

Why is this important?
Because we’ve seen so many public forms of LGBTQIA+ discrimination – including violent threats, protests at community events, and even LGBTQIA+ books being banned at a local council in NSW in May.
Despite how far we’ve come, it’s clear that LGBTQIA+ discrimination still exists, and we want to make sure that queer young people know they are loved for who they are.
We also know that schools don’t always know how to promote LGBTQIA+ inclusion, or the steps they need to take to create a safe space. We’ll help them take tangible action, and create lasting impact in their school environment – affecting students, families, staff, stakeholders, and the wider school community!
How will this work?
We’ll begin delivering these free LGBTQIA+ workshops in the new financial year – so from July 2024 onwards. Once June is over, we’ll know exactly how many LGBTQIA+ education sessions we can provide to schools, classrooms, students, and teachers.

We cover a range of different topics, depending on who the content is for – whether it’s a classroom, an entire year level, a group of teachers, or a pride group! Our experienced presenters are there to educate and empower, fostering inclusion and acceptance.
