Dance Events Assistant - Volunteer Role

We’re seeking a confident, energetic and self driven person to volunteer with our famous LGBTIQ underage Dance and Music Events, including the Queer Formal. Minus18 events are a community, not-for-profit space that has engaged more than 50,000 young people since they started. You’ll grow our community engagement and create spaces where young people feel amazing about their sexuality, gender identity and self. 

Volunteer Role, 1 day per week.
Location: Collingwood, VIC

IN A TYPICAL DAY, YOU WILL

  1. Plan and run the Minus18 dance events and Queer Formals you know and love. 
  2. Work with the Minus18 Events Coordinator to program artists for underage parties and formals.
  3. Assist with marketing of events through newsletters, mail outs and social media promotions. 
  4. Come up with creative concepts, themes and activities for the parties.
  5. Gain skills through on the job training and mentoring from qualified event managers.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE:

  1. Between the ages of 18 and 25, with spare time 
  2. Totally passionate about supporting LGBTIQ youth and ready to commit to one day per week & events 
  3. With an understanding of LGBTIQ identities.
  4. Who works well with a team of other people
  5. Event, music or promotional experience is a plus, but we value enthusiasm and passion most of all.
